Cheryl J. Livengood
Cheryl J. Livengood, 64, of Butler passed away at 6:20 p.m. Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1949, in Kittanning to Robert M. Livengood and Mary (Hileman) Livengood.
Cheryl graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1966, then she went on to graduate from Slippery Rock University where she received her bachelor of science in biology and her master's in education.
She taught at St. Mary's Assumption School and Emily Brittain Elementary School, until her retirement in June 2006.
Cheryl was a member of the Christ Community Methodist Church, where she served as an elder and led numerous Bible study groups. She was a member of the American Miniature Horse Registry, the American Miniature Horse Association and the Ohio Welsh Association. Cheryl served as a 4-H leader for 20 plus years. She was a member of the National Education Association, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the Butler Education Association and Pennsylvania State Education Retirement System.
Cheryl enjoyed spending time at her barn, showing and driving her miniature horses. She loved her dogs and horses. Cheryl enjoyed watching the Penguins hockey games and writing sports articles for the newspaper and the radio show. She enjoyed reading and playing on the computer. Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her mom and dad and going out to lunch with different groups of women.
Cheryl is survived by her parents, Robert M. Livengood and Mary (Hileman) Livengood.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Vernon and Helen Hileman, and her paternal grandparents, Glen and Helen Livengood.
Livengood — As per the wishes of Cheryl J. Livengood, who passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, there will be no public visitation.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, Butler, with Pastor Bruce Gascoine of the Christ Community United Methodist Church officiating. Private burial will take place in the Ford City Cemetery.The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N.
