Autopsy shows baby died from gunshot in abdomen
LANCASTER, Pa. — An autopsy this morning determined that a 2-month-old girl shot on Christmas Eve died of a single gunshot wound to her abdomen, a Pennsylvania district attorney said.
The girl was killed when an adult relative inside the home near Lancaster fired a handgun, said Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman.
Stedman said the identities of both the victim and shooter were expected to be released later today. He said it might take some time to determine if charges are warranted.
“I don’t even have any reports; we just got the autopsy done,” Stedman said. “I’ve got to talk to the guy who did the forensic analysis.”
Officials have said the girl and the shooter were alone when she was shot Tuesday afternoon. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.
