Phyllis G. McGrath

Phyllis G. McGrath, 95, of Buffalo Township passed away peacefully Friday at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh.

Phyllis was born on the Island of Sicily off the cost of Italy on Feb. 1, 1918, and came to this country as a young girl. She was the daughter of the late Mary and Marino Scalia and is the widow of Joseph A. McGrath, who passed in 2001.

Phyllis was a member of Our Lady of The Most Blessed Sacrament in Natrona Heights. Phyllis and her husband loved to go dancing in their younger years. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Thomas A. McGrath and his wife, Lisa, of Chicora; her two grandsons, Joseph McGrath and his wife, Jayne, of Boyds, Md., and Anthony McGrath and his wife, Amy, of Moorpark, Calif., and her six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Abreham, Markos, Theresa, Anna and Rebecca McGrath. She is also survived by her niece, Marietta Williams and her husband, Frank, of Buffalo Township.

McGrath — The family and friends of Phyllis G. McGrath, who passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport. A parting prayer service will be at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. that will be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport at 10 a.m. Saturday, with Father Edward Volz officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
