Lawrence E. 'Gene' Strutt

Lawrence E. “Gene” Strutt, 90, of Harmony passed away Wednesday at Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.

Born on May 12, 1923, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late Sibertus and Ella (Miller) Strutt.

Gene was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, where he was an elder and a trustee.

He retired from Richardson Gordon Associates as a civil engineer in 1985.

Gene was a former member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was a former Zelienople Rotarian. He was a true farmer at heart and loved the 55 years he spent on the farm raising beef cattle. Gene was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and skiing. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Lemley) Strutt, who he married on Oct. 8, 1949; his four children, Stephanie (William) Pierret of New Jersey, Leslie Strutt of Fombell, Starr Raible of Ambler, Pa., and Craig Strutt of Ellwood City; his seven grandchildren, William II, Tania, Kevin, Sarah, Christopher, David and Steven; his great-grandson, Matthew; his brother, Donald (Jean) Strutt of Gibsonia, and his two sisters, Arvilla “Sis” Baker and Helen Zettle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers and two sisters.

STRUTT — The family of Lawrence E. “Gene” Strutt, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E. Grandview Ave. Zelienople, with the Rev. Dr. N. Graham Standish, officiating.
