David Allen 'Nif' Dickey
David Allen “Nif” Dickey, 63, of Sankey Lane, Slippery Rock, Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Friday at his home.
He was born in New Castle on July 26, 1950, to John Charles Dickey and Jennie Marie McCurdy Dickey.
He retired from Mercer Lime Co. in Branchton, Pa., as a kiln operator until his retirement in 2009.
He graduated from Slippery Rock High School in 1969. He had been a member of Ducks Unlimited, and enjoyed bowling, hunting, golfing, NASCAR and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.
Survivors include his son, Jerome D. Metheney of Grove City; his four grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, Payton and Nathan Metheney, all of Grove City; his five brothers, including his identical twin brother, Dennis “Danger,” James and fiancee, Kim Allison, Fred and his wife, Connie, Mark and his wife, Debby, and Robert “Mouse” and wife, Beth, all of Slippery Rock; his two sisters, Ruth and her husband, Jim, Keith, of Harmony and Evelyn Vargo of New Castle; his two aunts, Helen and Lois McCurdy, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
DICKEY — The family of David Allen “Nif” Dickey, who passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 2 to 4 and 6 until service at 8 p.m. Wednesday.The funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday with the Pastor Brad McKoy of Antioch Overflow Experiment of Grove City, Pa.The memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, 203 S. Duffy Road, Butler, PA 16001.
