John J. 'Jack' Hindman
John J. “Jack” Hindman, 81, of Venango Township, Boyers, passed away early Tuesday morning at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Meadville, Pa., on May 26, 1932, he was the son of the late Ernest L. and Lola Jean McFadden Hindman.
Mr. Hindman was employed more than 25 years as a heavy equipment operator with Local 66 Operating Engineers.
He was a Protestant.
Jack was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army with the rank of PFC, having served from June 1949 to October 1952.
He was a longtime member of the Paul W. Wood VFW Post 7840 of Hilliards.
Surviving are his two daughters, Cindy Elder of Emlenton and Pam (Rick Page) Hindman of Utica, Pa.; his three sons, Ernie (Becky) Hindman of Parker, Tim Hindman of Boyers, and Dan (Leona) Hindman of Harrisville, and his nine grandchildren, Stormie, Cheyenne, Joshua, and David Hindman, Melissa Shearer, Heather Slater, Shane Carr, Kristina Kildoo, and Kelly Chambers. His five great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Robert Schultz of Titusville, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Schultz Hindman, who passed away Aug. 7, 2009. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lacey Hindman; daughter-in-law, Traci L. Hindman, and his only sister, Sally Holt.
HINDMAN — The friends of John J. “Jack” Hindman, who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Donaldson, United Methodist minister, officiating.
