Freemason Raymond Laurent, center, was honored for 60 years of service by Wayne Frankenstein, left, Dennis Fair and members of Butler Masonic Lodge 272.

Raymond Laurent, 98, of Butler was honored by Butler Lodge No. 272, Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania, as a 60-year member.

Wayne Frankenstein of Zelienople, district deputy grand master for the 26th Masonic district, congratulated Laurent, a past master of the lodge, not only on his many past contributions to Butler Lodge No. 272 and Freemasonry, but also for his continued involvement in the Masonic fraternity.

Dennis Fair of Mars, lodge master, recognized Laurent for imparting wisdom to younger Freemasons and for current service as a trustee of the lodge and a member of the committee on grievance. Laurent is also the treasurer of the Masonic Building Association, a role he has had for 57 years.

Laurent retired in 1985 from Union National Bank in Butler as the assistant vice president. He worked for the bank for 35 years, starting when it was Butler Savings and Trust.

Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternity. There are nearly 1,800 Freemasons in Butler County. To learn more, visit www.pagrandlodge.org.
