Truck driver dies in I-80 crash
ALLEGHENY TWP — A Mercer County man died Sunday afternoon when his tractor-trailer wrecked off Interstate 80.
Victor W. Darling, 59, of West Middlesex was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police in Clarion report Darling’s Mack 600 CXU was eastbound on the highway at 12:25 p.m. when it went off the right side, through the guard rail and down an embankment.
The truck then jackknifed and hit a fence and a tree.
Police report Darling died from injuries in the crash.
According to Butler County Emergency Services, the trailer was hauling a resin solution.
The county’s Hazmat team verified none of the solution was leaking and cleaned up a fuel spill.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
One lane of the highway was closed while the accident was cleared.
The Emlenton and Parker volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.
