Walter Melvern 'Walt' Jack
Walter Melvern “Walt” Jack, 76, of Butler passed away at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1937, in Worthington to the late Eugene A. Jack and Margaret (Goldinger) Jack.
Mr. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany.
He manufactured copper tubing for Halstead Industries and was an inspection mechanic for Wiltrout Oil. He also worked at Pullman Standard.
Mr. Jack is survived by his son, Eugene Jack and his wife, Teresa, of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; his two daughters, Elaine McClure and her husband, James, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Susan Beck and her husband, Franklin, of Renfrew; his stepson, Gerald Hughes and his wife, Laurel, of Mars; his 10 grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his three brothers, Homer F. Jack of Evans City, Melton S. Jack of White Bluff, Tenn., and Melvin D. Jack of Butler; his two sisters, Doris L. Jack of Mars and Mabel C. Beck of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine M. (Cooper) Jack, who he married on Feb. 6, 1960, and who passed away on July 2, 2010.
JACK — The friends of Walter Melvern “Walt” Jack, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Matthew Olson of the Church at the Heights officiating.
