Melinda May (Abrams) LeFevre

Melinda May (Abrams) LeFevre, 42, of Brookfield, N.Y., passed away Jan. 18. Her sudden departure to heaven is cause for much sorrow.

Mindy was born in Norwich, N.Y., on Dec. 3, 1971, to Gail Edward Abrams and the late Ida May (Tuttle) Abrams.

Mindy's hobbies included volunteering as a deaconess and treasurer at Berean Baptist Church in New Berlin, N.Y. Mindy and her husband, James Dean, also enjoyed antique cars and taking leisurely rides in their 1930s Chrysler “Mr. Magoo.” Mindy was a loving and devoted mother.

Mindy received her master's degree in special education from SUNY New Paltz.

She taught as a special education teacher at Unadilla Valley Central School. In 2003, Mindy was awarded the honor of being Walmart's Teacher-of-the-Year.

On Aug. 15, 2003, Mindy married James Dean LeFevre at Berean Baptist Church in New Berlin, N.Y.

Surviving are her husband of 10 years, James Dean LeFevre, and her loving son, Dean James of Brookfield, N.Y. Also surviving are her father, Gail Edward Abrams (Mindy was definitely daddy's girl) of Brookfield, N.Y.; her two brothers, Gail II and Gerald and his wife, Rachel; her father and mother-in-law, Donald and Darlene LeFevre of Karns City; her brothers-in-law, Donald LeFevre Jr. and Joseph LeFevre, both of Karns City, and her sister, Lisa and brother-in-law, Alex Kulin IV of Butler. Her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Perry Tuttle; her paternal grandmother, Beatrice Pudney Abrams Tuttle, and her numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins survive.

Mindy was predeceased by her mother and best friend, Ida May Abrams; her maternal grandfather, Kenneth James Tuttle Sr., and her paternal grandfather, Edward John Abrams.

LeFevre — The funeral services for Melinda May (Abrams) LeFevre, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, were Wednesday at Berean Baptist Church, New Berlin, N.Y. Interment was in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton, N.Y.The funeral arrangements were by Paul Funeral Homeof Brookfield, N.Y.Donations in Mindy's memory are appreciated and should be made to the Berean Baptist Church, 18 Genesee St., New Berlin, NY. 13411.
