Kathryn M. 'Kassie' Eck
Kathryn M. “Kassie” Eck, 96, of Butler formerly of Phillipston and East Brady, died Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on May 3, 1917, in Parker, she was the daughter of Harry C. and Kathryn M. (Weckerly) Gates.
On Feb. 12, 1943, she married Joseph “Wally” Eck. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1986.
Kassie was a member of the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church in East Brady. She enjoyed word search puzzles.
Kassie proudly raised two girls, Fanny Miller, who preceded her in death, and Nancy (Gates) McClaine of Maple Heights, Ohio. She also is survived by Fred McClaine and his wife, Rita, of Meridian, who she affectionately called her son; her three grandchildren, August McClaine of Ft. Mill, S.C., Brandan McClaine and his wife, Lora, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and Justine McClaine of Washington, D.C.; her two great-grandchildren, Jonah McClaine and Mari McClaine, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kassie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her four brothers and her sister.
ECK — Friends of Kathryn M. “Kassie” Eck, who died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Buechele Funeral Home, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church, East Brady, with the Rev. William Kuba celebrating.
