Firefighters limit damage of chimmey fire
CLAY TWP — Firefighters on Sunday night prevented a chimney blaze from spreading to the rest of a home on Euclid Road.
Chief Reid Campbell of the West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department said this morning that there were no problems aside from working in the cold weather.
“We had to knock down the debris,” Campbell said. “It was still burning.”
The occupant, Debbie Hutchinson, knew a fire ignited.
“She actually heard that noted freight train sound,” Campbell said.
He estimated damages at $4,000. Hutchinson is insured.
Fifteen firefighters responded to the 10:24 p.m. 911 call. The Unionville Volunteer Fire Company assisted West Sunbury.
Crews cleared the scene at 11:50 p.m.
