Butler man arrested, faces charges in Ohio

ERIE COUNTY, Ohio — A Butler man who is a Vandergrift patrolman had a run-in with Ohio law enforcement last week while he was off-duty.

Lee Bartolicius, 21, of Butler was arrested early Friday for being armed with his weapon while intoxicated.

According to a police report from Perkins Township, which is near Sandusky, Ohio, Bartolicius was celebrating his cousin’s 21st birthday with other family members when he went into anaphylactic shock, likely triggered by a dairy product in one of his drinks.

Bartolicius had a loaded, holstered Glock. When an ambulance and police arrived, officers confiscated the weapon and told him that having the weapon while drinking is against the law.

While being armed or using a weapon while intoxicated is a first-degree misdemeanor in Ohio, there is no such law in Pennsylvania.

Bartolicius was reportedly apologetic with officers, and told them he was not aware of the law.

He was released on about $3,000 bond.

Bartolicius and Vandergrift Police Chief Joseph Caporali could not be reached for comment.
