Catherine McKnight

Catherine A. McKnight, 81, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 12, 1932, in Summit Township, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Jeanette Rauschenberger.

She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler.

Catherine attended the Mason Felix School, became a licensed cosmetologist, and practiced for many years in Butler.

A wonderful wife and mother, she had a great love for family, home and holiday celebrations. She was a creative and talented homemaker, seamstress, doll maker, and decorator, always aiming for perfection in her work and helping others to learn her crafts. Her wonderful sense of humor was combined with a calm, quiet dignity.

She is survived by her son, Ronald (Robin Rettig) McKnight Sr., and their children Ronald Jr. (Joy Vogel), Rebecca (Nathaniel) Dorsey, and Brooke; her two daughters, Cynthia (David Hill) McKnight and their children, Nathaniel and Marlowe, and Karen (Thomas) Fisher and their children, Jeremy and Ellen (Joseph) Elliott, and her nine great-grandchildren.

Being the eldest of eight siblings, she is survived by her three brothers, Frank (Joyce), Bernard “Buddy” (Nolene), and James (Janet) Rauschenberger, and her three sisters, Joyce (Ronald) Benson, Linda (Gary) Powell and Sally (Howard) Seibka.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph V. McKnight, who she married June 20, 1952, and who passed away Dec. 31, 2009; her sister, Margaret “Peg” Turrano, and her great-grandson, Christian Ronald McKnight.

McKnight — A celebration of life service for Catherine A. McKnight, who passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the St. Luke Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot. Interment will be in the Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery in Butler.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward L.
