William P. 'Bill' Affrica

Bill Affrica

William P. “Bill” Affrica, 81, of Buffalo Township peacefully passed away at 1:58 a.m. Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Bill was born on Oct. 5, 1932, in Brackenridge. He was the son of the late Josephine (Harrigan) and William J. Affrica. He was the widower of Barbara F. (Visnovsky) Affrica, who passed away in 2009.

Bill was a faithful member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After his service to his country, Bill came home and went to work as an electrical repairman for Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Department 9 for more than 40 years.

Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing and reading. He and his wife also loved to travel to Ireland together.

He is survived by his son, William J. (Susan) Affrica of South Buffalo Township; his two daughters, Colleen (Mark) White of Slippery Rock and Diane (Russ) Foltz of Venice, Fla.; his three sisters, Carolyn (Ernest) Bowser of Alexandria, Va., Kathleen (Don) Herring of New Bern, N.C., and Marilyn Lindh of Leechburg; and his two brothers, John (Eileen) Affrica of Fenton, Mich., and Dan (Karen) Affrica of Leechburg. Bill is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his infant son, Thomas Affrica.

Affrica— The family and friends of William P. “Bill” Affrica, who passed away Thursday, March 6, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.A parting prayer service will be at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Saturday followed by a Mass of Christian burial at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot at 1 p.m. with the Fr. Ward Stakem, OFM Cap., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Freeport.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 315 Stoney Hollow Road, Cabot PA 16023.To send a condolence, visit www.redmondfuneralhomeinc.com.
