Edinboro drops 3 programs, adds 3
EDINBORO, Erie County — The Edinboro University trustees voted Tuesday to eliminate three programs while adding three new ones.
“It’s really an evolution in our program offerings,” said university spokesman Jeff Hileman.
The programs that will be eliminated will be art history, which had 14 students; philosophy, which had seven students, and women’s studies, which had four students.
Students enrolled in these programs will be allowed to continue until graduation. Classes on the subjects still will be offered, but people will not be able to major in them.
Hileman said the decision to end these programs will not affect employment.
Trustees also voted to add new tracks in computer science, history and biology.
Hileman said the program changes are a result of student demand, regional needs and the job market.
