Lavern A. 'Ernie' Easler
Lavern A. “Ernie” Easler, 87, of Butler passed away at 4 p.m. Friday at his home.
He was born on Dec. 17, 1926, in Shaler Township, to the late Albert Easler and Gertrude (Hufnagel) Easler.
Ernie worked for the Armour Meat Packing Co. as a mechanic at Herr's Island in Pittsburgh.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the European Theater.
Ernie was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 118 in Millvale. He was deeply devoted to his fellow veterans.
Ernie was a Catholic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, gardening, traveling, and reading.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Dolores M. Easler, who he married on Sept. 18, 1947; his son, Rick A. Easler and his wife, Kim, of Glenshaw; his daughter, Trudy E. Banks and her husband, John, of Connoquenessing; his grandson, Sean Easler of Glenshaw; his sister, Rita Mae Kunz of Baden; his sister-in-law, Sylvia Easler of Allison Park, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sylvan “Red” Easler, and his sister, Garnetta Perkins.
