Ralph H. Schroder

Ralph Henry Schroder, 80, of Pawleys Island, S.C., formerly of the Pittsburgh area, died Monday at his home.

Born Aug. 23, 1933, in West Deer Township, he was the son of William and Florence (Graham) Schroder.

After his graduation in 1951 from Butler High School, he served four years in the U.S. Navy on a destroyer during the Korean War.

He retired in 2001 as the plant manager from the Commercial Shredding Co. in Orlando, Fla.

After moving to South Carolina in 2001, he enjoyed most of all taking long walks on the beach with his golden retriever, J.T.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Elaine (Gulick) Schroder; two sons, Timothy Schroder of Germany and Douglas Schroder of Virginia; two daughters, Monica Schroder and Gwyn Schroder, both of Michigan; one brother-in-law, John Gulick of Monongahela; and two nephews.

SCHRODER — Friends and family of Ralph Henry Schroder, who died Monday, April 14, 2014, are invited to attend a funeral service celebrated at Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 508 High St., Monongahela, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. George Yatsko officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery with the Mon-Valley Honor Guard conducting full military honors.Memorial contributions can be made to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, 508 High St., Monongahela.The Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, is in charge of the arrangements.
