Margaret B. Purvis

Margaret B. Purvis, 95, of Mars passed away Tuesday evening at LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born in Baltimore, Md., on Jan. 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Frances Reisler Fallon.

A homemaker, Margaret was a member of St. Kilian Church in Mars and was a Catechist teacher and Christian Mother there. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mars VFW Post 7505.

Surviving are her two daughters, Eleanor Cupps and her husband, Donald, of Edgewood, N.M., and Peggy Anne Landis and her husband, Edward, of Stewartsville; her son, Gerald “Jerry” Purvis of Saxonburg; her brother, John Fallon of Brooklyn Park, Md.; her 10 grandchildren, and her 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ret. Capt. Darvin “Dean” Purvis, who she married May 3, 1941, and who died June 1, 2001; by her son, Thomas Dean Purvis, and by her three sisters, Frances Fordham, Eleanor Wiesand and Mary Henry.

Purvis, who passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014, will be received at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Kilian Church at the corner of Clark and Cherry streets, Mars, at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Charles Bober, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.Memorials may be made to St. Kilian Church, 7076 Franklin Rd.
