Dr. Robert T. Eckert

Dr. Robert T. Eckert of Salem, Va., formerly of Butler, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday.

Dr. Eckert was born in Englewood, N.J., in 1920 and graduated from Upsala College in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

He earned his medical degree in 1945 from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.

He served in the U.S. Army-Air Force in Alaska at Ladd Field and Fort Randall.

He joined the medical staff at Butler County Memorial Hospital in 1947 and practiced internal medicine in Butler for 45 years, retiring in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. Eckert.

He is survived by his two sons, Thomas L. of Roanoke, Va., and Joel O. of Princeville, Ill.; his five grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Eckert — Funeral arrangements for Dr. Robert T. Eckert who passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014, are entrusted to the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
