Edgar Paul Mariacher
Edgar Paul Mariacher, 89, of Butler went home to be with his Lord Wednesday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Goff, to the late William Mariacher and Grace (Shearon) Mariacher.
Edgar enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 at the age of 17. During the war, he served as a gunner in the South Atlantic and South Pacific theaters of operation. After his return to Butler, he worked in construction and at Mine Safety Appliance, from which he retired in 1986.
Edgar liked hunting, fishing and attending church, and especially enjoyed family gatherings. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Edgar is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Ann Mariacher; his son, Robert E. Mariacher and his wife, Jennifer, of Butler; two daughters, Deborah King and her husband, Sherrel, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Patricia Smith and her husband, William, of Butler; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Mariacher — The friends of Edgar Paul Mariacher, who passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, will be received at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
