SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University Sustainable Enterprise Accelerator (SEA) and Marcellus Outreach Butler (MOB) will host the second annual Fossil-free Energy Fair on July 26.
The event will take place at SRU's Advanced Technology and Science Hall from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is to educate the public to the economic and climate benefits of alternate forms of energy.
The theme of the fair is “Energizing for a Sustainable Future,” and it will feature an exclusive video address by Bill McKibben, co-founder of 350.org, a website dedicated to reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
The keynote speaker is Robert Hinds, professor emeritus from SRU. He will talk about the move to renewable energy and it's importance.
John Golden from the SEA will speak on the economic benefits of sustainable energy enterprises.
Children's activities will be provided by the Jennings Environmental Education Center.
Entertainment will include films, live music and a clown.
Free hot dogs, cooked with solar generated power, will be featured.
Exhibitors, such as solar installers, energy choice suppliers, electric cars and others will be on hand to talk about and display their products and services.

GROVE CITY — The Grove City Police Department is has joined the state police in conducting aggressive driving enforcement activities.The enforcement started Monday and will run through Aug. 31. It will cover Route 208, Route 58 and other Grove City roads.It aims to cut down on the number of aggressive driving related crashes by cracking down on behaviors such as speeding, tailgating and running red lights.
