Hellen Grossman Erdos

Hellen Grossman Erdos, 90, formerly of Cypress Street, Butler Township, passed away Tuesday morning at Concordia at The Orchard in Butler.

Born in Slippery Rock on Feb. 7, 1924, she was the daughter of Ruth Riding Grossman Rosandick.

A veteran of World War II, she served as a member of the U.S. Women's Marine Corps while stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Quantico, Va.

Her husband, George Erdos, who she married on June 28, 1945, preceded her in death in May 2003.

Mrs. Erdos was an active member of the St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her two daughters, Sharon Michelitsch and Linda Erdos of Alexandria, Va.; her two sons, Richard Erdos of Broomall, Delaware County, and Gary Erdos of Fort Wayne, Ind.; her five grandchildren, David Erdos, Sarah Erdos Bocian, Daniel Erdos, Andrew Erdos and Peter Erdos; and her four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Twila Grossman Savage; her two brothers, James Grossman and Robert Grossman; her two sisters-in-law, Theresa Stirling and Ann Henricks, formerly of Butler; and her many nieces and nephews.

ERDOS — The friends of Hellen Grossman Erdos, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friday at the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, with the Rev. Alden Towberman, pastor of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, c/o Development Office, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
