Police search for man who robbed gas station

CRANBERRY TWP — A man with a gun held up the Kwik Fill gas station on Route 19 in the township Sunday morning.

No one was hurt but the robber made his getaway with an undisclosed amount of money.

Township police did not immediately return telephone calls this morning and it was not known if investigators have any suspects.

Police at 6:32 a.m. responded to a panic alarm at the store, according to the Butler County Communications Center.

Officers were told the robber came into the store brandishing a gun. He demanded money and left with the loot. He was last seen running into the bushes at the Victory Church next door.

The Evans City police K-9 was called to help. The dog tracked the suspect's scent near the store and followed it until losing it, indicating the robber likely drove away in a getaway car.

Calls to the Kwik Fill were not answered this morning.
