Dorothy M. Houser Ryder
Dorothy M. Houser Ryder, 94, of Grove City and Slippery Rock passed away Wednesday.
She was the daughter of William and Edna Houser.
She is survived by her nephews, Sherwin (Shirley) Houser of Baldwin, William (Evelyn) Houser of Murrysville, Robert (Patricia) Houser of Albany, Ore., and her niece, Joan (Russell) Krohe of Alliance, Ohio. She is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Hubsch in 1958 and Joseph Ryder in 1992; her brother, Dale Houser; her sister, Gladys DeWalt, and her nephew, Donn DeWalt.
A true Renaissance woman, Dorothy was an executive secretary for the Sealtest Dairy Co. in both Pittsburgh and Cleveland, Ohio.
She was a life member of the Carrick Eastern Star 231 and the Brentwood High School Alumni Association, having graduated near the top of her class in 1939.
Her greatest joys were her cat, Sweetie Pie, golf, the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, and most of all, her summer cottage on Slippery Rock Creek.
