Santa coming to township
CRANBERRY TWP — The Christmas season will kickoff Nov. 21 in the township with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus in an event that will feature a tree lighting ceremony and live reindeer.
The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. with free family activities, games and refreshments in the township municipal center.
Holiday music will be provided by the Dutilh United Methodist Church choir. There will be a giant Lego train on display inside the council chambers.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on a fire truck at 7 p.m., and he will greet children afterward. He will then flip a switch lighting the community tree on the municipal center’s front lawn.
Another attraction will be the annual Cranberry Holiday Tree Gallery, which is a fundraising effort where more than 20 nonprofits that banded together to display trees decorated with different themes.
While Santa will be on hand on Nov. 21, individual visits with St. Nick won’t take place until Dec. 6 and Dec. 7.
Registration to meet Santa must be done through the township parks and recreation department before those dates.
The program, Milk and Cookies with Santa, will cost $14 per child or $11 for Cranberry residents.
Santa also will make a third appearance in the township on Dec. 13, when he will travel to the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course for a community brunch.
Both children and adults are welcome to meet with Santa at either 10 a.m. or noon that day. Admission is free for children younger than 4, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
