Ronald Cowen

Ronald Cowen, 60, of Butler passed away unexpectedly at 1:04 a.m. Tuesday due to cardiac arrest at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Ron was born on Sept. 1, 1954, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of Mercedes Heinzl Cowen and the late Donald W. Cowen Sr.

Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Grace at Calvary Lutheran Church in Butler, where he served as an usher.

He was a surveyor crew chief for Land Surveyors Inc. for more than 35 years.

Ron is survived by his wife, Beverly Cowen, who he married on Oct. 17, 1981; his mother, Mercedes Cowen of West Sunbury; his brother, Darin (Michelle) Cowen of West Sunbury; his brother-in-law, Mark (Carol) Prokay of West Sunbury; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Ron was preceded in death by his sister, one brother and one nephew.

Cowen — The family of Ronald Cowen, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Grace@Calvary Lutheran Church on Diamond Street in Butler with the Pastor Beverly Banyay and former pastor and friend, Timothy Bupp, officiating.
