James D. Ippolito
James D. Ippolito, 89, of Butler passed away Monday at VA Butler Healthcare.
Born on Jan. 25, 1925, in Cabot, he was the son of the late Giuseppi and Maria Cosentino Ippolito.
He was retired from the Parts Department of Kelly Chevrolet-Cadillac, where he was employed for 39 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jim was an avid golfer, playing in two leagues. He also bowled in the Duckpin League at the Knights of Columbus and in a league at Family Lanes.
He was a member of the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Roman Catholic Men's Club.
He volunteered at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and for Habitat for Humanity.
He is survived by his two sons, James W. Ippolito and his wife, Barbara, of Illinois and Michael R. Ippolito of Butler; his daughter, Cathy Shaffer and her husband, Brad, of Erie; his sister, Rose Dufford of Butler; his four grandchildren; and his great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Winters Ippolito, who passed away on Dec. 15, 2009; his two brothers; and one sister.

Ippolito, who passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.The Bereavement Group of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home for a Scriptural Wake Service.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.
