Theresa 'T.D.' Marie Gold

Theresa “T.D.” Marie Gold, 88, of Asheboro, N.C., formerly of Butler, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Monday at the Hospice House in Asheboro, N.C., after a brief illness.

She was born on Feb. 19, 1926, in Butler to the late George Frank Huff and Daisy VanDyke Huff.

Mrs. Gold was a 1944 graduate of Butler High School.

She was employed at Bell Telephone as an operator for 20 years in Butler, retiring in May of 1983. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

As a mother of six, she spent many years as a homemaker as well. While in Butler, Theresa was a member of the Community Alliance Church, where she participated in the Alliance Women and Widows Group and formerly the hospitality group. Most recently, she attended the Crossroad Baptist Church in Asheboro.

Mrs. Gold took great pride in her gardens and evidence of her green thumb could be seen in her flowers and plants. Crocheting and lunches out with family and former co-workers were also activities that brought her much joy.

Mrs. Gold is survived by her four sons, Jeffrey Lee Gold and his wife, Karen, of Byfield, Mass., Daniel Dean Gold of Vero Beach, Fla., Gary George Gold and his wife, Renee, of Butler, and Ricky Joseph Gold of Vero Beach, Fla.; her two daughters, Cynthia Marie Rogers of Asheboro, N.C., and Linda Sue Gold-Wester and her husband, David, of Vero Beach, Fla.; her eight grandchildren; her great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean W. Gold, who she married on Feb. 5, 1949, and who passed away on June 30, 1986; her six sisters; and her five brothers.

Gold — The friends of Theresa “T.D.” Marie Gold, who passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Community Alliance Church, 800 Mercer Road Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis L. Krajacic officiating.
