Christian C. 'Butch' Burkert Sr.
Christian C. “Butch” Burkert Sr., 71, of Mars passed away Monday evening in the comfort of his home.
Born Dec. 29, 1942, in Evans City, he was the son of the late William and Mary Jane Keefer Burkert.
Butch had been a maintenance technician for Lava Crucible-Vesuvius U.S.A. He also worked as a scanner for the Butler Auto Auction for seven years.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Mars Alliance Church and had been a Boy Scout leader for Valencia Troop 412. He belonged to the ABC Bowling League and the Connoquenessing Indians bowling team, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Lucille A. “Lucy” Hoak Burkert, who he married June 24, 1966; his daughter, Rene L. Lauer and her husband, Curtis, of Corning, Iowa; his three sons, William Burkert and his wife, Mary, of Beaver Falls, Patrick C. Burkert and his wife, Amanda, of Valencia, and Christian Burkert Jr. of Portersville; his grandchildren, Michael and Emily Lauer, Jason and Kiki Burkert and Jenny (John) Paugh; three sisters, Patricia Judd and her husband, Bill, and Amy Davis and her husband, Bert, both in Ohio, and Iva Ruth Ehrhart and her husband, Bill, in West Virginia; three brothers, John “Bob” Burkert and his wife, Lillian, of Butler, Terry Jo Burkert and his wife, Bambi, in Georgia, and James Burkert and his wife, Cassie, in Ohio; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Craig Burkert.
