Leonard S. Thomas Sr., 71, of Butler, formerly of Evans City, passed away Sunday morning at his son's home after an illness.

Born on March 11, 1943, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Oscar L. and Mary Matilda Hughes Thomas.

Leonard worked for Tesone Trucking, Gibsonia, as a truck driver for more than 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alverda D. Sill Thomas, on Oct. 18, 2009.

He is survived by his son, Leonard (Christina) Thomas of Butler; his two daughters, Lisa Marie (Bruce) McKinnis of Maryland and Elizabeth (David) Tirk of Cabot; his two brothers, Lawrence Thomas of Emlenton and Robert Thomas of Butler; his sister, Levina Tuberville of New Jersey; his seven grandchildren, and his seven great-grandchildren.
