CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State's Gary Andersen has added Dave Baldwin as offensive coordinator and Kevin McGiven as quarterbacks coach.

The Beavers announced the staff additions Sunday.

Baldwin spent the last three seasons as offensive coordinator at Colorado State. He previously worked with Andersen as offensive coordinator at Utah State from 2009-11, and had stints as a head coach at San Jose State and Cal State Northridge.

McGiven has been Utah State's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the past two seasons. Before that he served in the same capacity at Montana State.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Minnesota wide receiver Donovahn Jones has been dismissed from the program for what the school says is an unspecified violation of team policy.The move was announced Sunday by the Gophers, who play Missouri on Thursday in the Citrus Bowl.Jones, a sophomore, had 11 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns and four carries for 42 yards this season.He was recruited out of his high school near Atlanta as a quarterback, but the Gophers moved him to wide receiver during fall camp of his freshman year. He had 10 receptions for 157 yards last season plus 16 rushes for 73 yards.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Lakers claimed center Tarik Black off waivers from the Houston Rockets on Sunday, waiving injured guard Xavier Henry to make room on their roster.Lakers coach Byron Scott hopes the tough-nosed, cerebral rookie can contribute immediately to the Lakers, whose big men have struggled this season.Scott said Black is scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles on Monday for a physical, hopefully joining the team for its game in Denver on Tuesday.
