Firefighters save 2nd home from major fire damage
DONEGAL TWP — Firefighters who were already in the same neighborhood this afternoon prevented a blaze from igniting at a home on Jackson Lane.
Assistant Chief Scott Rattigan of the East Butler Volunteer Fire Department said he and others who were at the scene of a fire on Gameland Road spotted the smoke about 12:15 p.m. coming from 107 Jackson Lane.
“We looked up and saw it,” Rattigan said.
He said heat from a pellet stove on the basement level of the house melted some siding and charred a portion of the exterior.
Rattigan estimated damages at $10,000.
The home’s occupants were not there.
