Television Q&A
QUESTION: I loved the show “Halt and Catch Fire.” The cast was wonderful, the characters quirky and interesting, the music great, and the story of the development of personal computers was fascinating and exciting. Will the series come back or halt?
ANSWER: AMC is bringing the series back sometime this summer.
QUESTION: Will FX have a second season of “Tyrant” or do I have to imagine what happens to Barry and his family? It really was compelling and horrifying all at the same time.
ANSWER: The network has ordered a second season of the drama, which should return this summer.
QUESTION: On the season finale of “The Newsroom,” what was the hymn sung at the funeral? I didn’t see it listed on the credits.
ANSWER: The episode (which, by the way, was the series finale, not just the season finale) was “Eternal Father, Strong To Save,” also known as the “Navy Hymn.” According to the U.S. Navy website, “the original words were written as a poem in 1860 by William Whiting of Winchester, England, for a student who was about to sail for the United States. The melody, published in 1861, was composed by fellow Englishman, Rev. John Bacchus Dykes, an Episcopalian clergyman.”
QUESTION: I would like to know if the woman who played Jon Cryer’s wife on “Two and a Half Men” is the same one on “Madam Secretary” and “Red Band Society.” On one she plays a CIA agent, on the other a mother. If this is the one, please give me her name.
ANSWER: That would be Marin Hinkle. She has played Judith, the ex-wife of Cryer’s character, Alan Harper, on “Two and a Half Men.” On “Madam Secretary,” she has recurred as CIA agent Isabelle, and on “Red Band Society” she guest-starred as the mother of Emma Chota (Ciara Bravo).
