Mary Murphy

NEW YORK — Veteran “So You Think You Can Dance” cast member Mary Murphy is leaving.

The Fox network on Monday confirmed Murphy's departure from the dance competition show, which she joined as a choreographer and guest judge with its first season in 2005. She later was named a permanent judge.

The network describes Murphy as “a huge part” of the show.

Murphy is a former U.S. champion ballroom dancer. She says she is “saddened” to be released from her contract but is “grateful and proud” to have been part of the show.

No reason has been given for Murphy's exit.

“So You Think You Can Dance” returns for its 12th season this summer.

The show has a panel of three judges, including Nigel Lythgoe. Judges for the upcoming season haven't been announced.

NEW YORK — Madonna, AC/DC and Ariana Grande are among the first performers announced to take the stage at the Grammy Awards next month.Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran and country star Eric Church also will perform at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 8.Grande, who is nominated for two awards, will make her Grammy debut. Church is nominated for four honors, while Sheeran has three, including album of the year for “x.”Beyoncé, Sam Smith and Pharrell are the leaders in nominations with six apiece. The three pop stars, along with Sheeran, will compete with Beck for album of the year.The 57th annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS.
