Carmen E. Marterella, 75, of Hilliards, formerly of Boyers, passed away unexpectedly at his residence at 4:37 p.m. on Friday.

Carmen was born Aug. 16, 1939, in Boyers. He was the son of the late Daniel P. Marterella and the late Josephine E. Pratt (Perorazio) Marterella.

He was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church (St. Alphonsus Parish). He began working at the age of 15 with his father at Marterella Trucking. In 1987 he became owner operator of C.E. Marterella Trucking. Carmen's pride and joy were his sons, his grandsons and his truck.

Carmen is survived by his wife, Carol Hutchison Marterella, who he married Dec. 28, 1963; two sons, Daniel (Sue) Marterella of Boyers and Michael (Amy) Marterella of Chicora; three grandsons, Matthew, Aaron and David; one brother, Donald (Karen) Marterella of Grove City; one sister-in-law, Mildred Marterella of Emlenton; and several nieces and nephews.

Carmen was preceded in death by one brother, John.

MARTERELLA — The family of Carmen E. Marterella, who died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.A blessing service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev.
