Garage destroyed, house damaged by fire
FRANKLIN TWP — An accidental fire destroyed a garage at Muldoon Road residence Sunday evening.
Chief Frank Wilson of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department said the garage was fully involved when crews arrived at 115 Muldoon Road.
He said the wind spread flames to the nearby home, which was separated by 8 feet.
He said the siding was melted and two windows shattered from the heat.
But firefighters stopped the blaze from causing interior damage.
He said the fire started when one of the owners, Donald Lavorini, was working on a snowmobile, possibly breaking a gas line.
Lavorini couldn’t save either of the two snowmobiles or an all-terrain vehicle stored inside.
Wilson estimated damages at roughly $50,000 for the garage and its contents with another $10,000 to $15,000 for damage to the house.
The family is insured.
Crews boarded up the two windows.
Between 30 and 40 firefighters responded to the 5:19 p.m. 911 call.
The Unionville, Portersville, Connoquenessing and Meridian volunteer fire departments assisted Prospect.
