Stephen J. Kitzko
Stephen J. Kitzko, 72, of Butler passed away Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born on March 4, 1942, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Stephen and Mary Elizabeth Matis Kitzko.
He had worked for the VA Medical Center in Butler as a driver. He retired in 1997 after 34 years.
He graduated from Shenango High School in 1959, and he attended Youngstown State University.
During his younger years, he enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, photography and watching football, hockey and baseball.
He was a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler; the N.A.R.F.E.; the Slovak Club and Polish Falcon 146, both in New Castle; the S.N.P.J. in Imperial, Pa.; the 1st Catholic Ladies Sokol and the Zenska Jednota, both in Cleveland, Ohio, and the American Legion Post 778 of Lyndora.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Natalie S. Stariat Kitzko, and one son, Andrew Jude “A.J.” Kitzko of Butler.
KITZKO — Friends of Stephen J. Kitzko, who passed away Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, will be received at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with Rev. Nick Argentieri, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church.
