Scott Black

Scott W. Black, 54, of New Sewickley Township passed away Sunday at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born on Jan. 18, 1960, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Walter and Carol Davidson Black of the North Side.

Scott was a 1978 graduate of Oliver High School. He was a diesel mechanic for 20 years at Team Transport in Warrendale and most recently for the Warren C. Sauers Co., Inc., in Cranberry Township.

Scott was an avid fisherman and gardener, but above all, he will be remembered for his sense of humor and the love he had for his nieces, nephews and family.

In addition to his parents, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 31 years, Nancy Benkart Black, whom he married on April 23, 1983; his sister, Cathy (William) Tucker of Oviedo, Fla.; his two brothers, John Black of Yuma, Ariz., and Stanley (Heather) Black of Cheswick; his mother-in-law, Germaine Benkart of Cranberry Township; his 13 brothers and sisters-in-law, and his 45 nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his sister, Jennifer Black, and his brother-in-law, Donald R. Spillane.

Black, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at theGlenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. Friends are asked to please meet at the church.
