Victor Majetich
Victor Majetich, 95, of Lancaster, N.Y., formerly of Butler, passed away Sunday at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, N.Y.
He was born March 23, 1919, in Pittsburgh, to the late Joseph Majetich and Catherine Sankovich Majetich.
Mr. Majetich was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserves during World War II, serving in the United States and Hawaiian Islands as an aircraft mechanic 2nd class.
He worked as an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines at the Buffalo International Airport, retiring Oct. 16, 1981, with 33 years of service.
Mr. Majetich was a member of the American Airlines Retirement Club and the Vangard Club for Retirees. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and watching sports on TV.
Mr. Majetich is survived by his daughter, Kathi Phelps and her husband, Thomas, of Grand Island, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Darren and Derrek Phelps, and Karen, Susan, David and Samuel Majetich; three brothers, Joseph Majetich of Ruskin, Fla., William Majetich of Cleveland, Ohio, and Edward Majetich of Cleveland, Ohio; his sister, Catherine Cypher of Cabot; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Majetich, who he married Jan. 12, 1949, and who passed away Jan. 14, 2005; his son, Steven R. Majetic; his sister, Emma Sekeras; and three brothers, Frank, Dan and George Majetich.
Majetich — Friends of Victor Majetich, who passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Victor's nephew, the Pastor Bob Majetich of Grace Evangelical Church in Newbury, Ohio, officiating.
