Marjorie R. Phillips

Marjorie R. Phillips, 94, of Butler passed away at 4:35 a.m. Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

She was born on April 1, 1920, in Butler to the late William R. Phillips and Hazel Moyer Phillips.

Marjorie was the valedictorian of the Butler High School Class of 1938, then she went on to attend Pittsburgh Business School.

She worked in the Accounting Department at Butler Armco Steel for 41 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of Butler Armco Girls Club — Retired, Tanglewood, Meals on Wheels, and the Grace @ Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Marjorie enjoyed reading and watching Steelers and golf, and she was an avid Pirates fan. She enjoyed playing bridge and “500” for many years.

Marjorie is survived by her sister, Shirley A. Holtzclaw and her husband, Alfred, of Millsboro, Del.; her sister-in-law, Margaret Phillips of Panama City, Fla.; her niece, Karen Goble of Louisville, Ky.; her two nephews, Douglas Holtzclaw and Donald Holtzclaw, both of Maryland, and her six great-nephews and nieces, Phillip, Alex, David, Ryan, Kristen and Adam.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, W.R. Phillips Jr.

Phillips— The friends of Marjorie R. Phillips, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, will be received from 4 p.m. to funeral services at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with the Pastor Beverly Banyay officiating.
