James Winder

James R. Winder, 77, of Harrisville passed away at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the Grove City Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He was born on May 15, 1937, in Grove City to the late Jesse Earl Winder and Goldie E. Snyder Winder.

He married Mary L. Rihel on Oct. 5, 1962, and she preceded him in death on March 15, 1993.

He retired from the Social Security Administration, Boyers, in September 2012, where he was employed for 52-and-a-half years.

He was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church.

Jim was a graduate of Harrisville High School, Class of 1955.

He was a lifetime member of the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company, Station 34. He served in different leadership roles as a volunteer with the department. During his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter, Tina M. Webb and her husband, Earl R., of Harrisville, and his grandson, Earl James “E.J.” Webb of Harrisville.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Winder— Visitation for James R. Winder, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at theCunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.Additional visitation will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Harrisville United Methodist Church, 301 S. Main St., Harrisville, with funeral services at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Jeffrey Canter, pastor of the church. Burial will be in Eau Claire.Memorials may be made to the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company, 313 E. Mercer St., Harrisville, PA 16038, or to the Harrisville United Methodist Church, Church Building Fund, 301 S. Main St., Harrisville, PA 16038.
