Woman injured in crash on Route 422 is from Slippery Rock

KITTANNING TWP, Armstrong County — The driver of a truck that was involved in a collision with a coal truck on Route 422 Friday is from Slippery Rock.

State police today released the names of the drivers of the three-vehicle crash that closed the road for several hours.

State police said a coal truck traveling east rolled onto its passenger side near the intersection of Graham Road and slid into the westbound lane of Route 422, striking an oncoming pickup truck driven by Abby Thornbury, 34, of Slippery Rock.

An SUV driven by Pamela Singer, 49, of Hollidaysburg rear-ended the back of Thornbury’s truck as a result, police said.

Thornbury and an unidentified front-seat passenger in her pickup truck were flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries.

The driver of the coal truck, John Forte, 31, of Tarentum, was transported to an Armstrong County hospital with minor injuries. Singer also suffered minor injuries, police said.
