Herbert B. Link
Herbert B. Link, 94, of Clay Township passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia in Cabot at 6:10 p.m. Thursday.
Herb, the son of the late David and Lois Stine Link, was born in Brady Township on Jan. 15, 1921.
He married Helen Jeanette (Cranmer) Snyder Link on July 5, 1951. She predeceased him on Aug. 27, 2007.
Herb was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army in World War II. As a Sgt. Field Art., he was involved in four major battles in the European Theatre including the Battle of the Bulge. He was a dragline operator for the Adobe Mining Co. for 33 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Muddy Creek United Presbyterian Church for over 75 years where served as an elder and trustee. He was also a member of the Muddy Creek Cemetery Association and the Connoquenessing Odd Fellows Lodge 278. Herb enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working. Many of his bird houses, wind chimes and flying creations adorn friends and neighbors yards.
Mr. Link is survived by two sons, Robert E. (Judith) Snyder of Saxonburg and Jeffrey L. (Nancy) Link of Butler; four grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Snyder, Scott (Kim) Snyder, Erica (Dan) Kessler and Christina Link; five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Andrew, Emma, Rachel and Isabella Snyder; one brother, Howard Link of Slippery Rock; as well as a number of nieces and nephews and some very good neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, John and William Link; and one sister, Dorothy Benn.
LINK — The family of Herbert B. Link, who died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, will receive friends at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Matt Kail, his pastor, officiating.
