Edward Clark Allen

Edward Clark Allen, 78, of Butler passed away Sunday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

He was a member of the Buffalo Valley Sportsman Club, Craigsville. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving his country from 1955 to 1958 and achieving the rank of specialist 3rd class.

He was born on April 3, 1936, in Butler, the son of the late Richard Allen and Blanche A. LeFever.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Jean Hockenberry Allen, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1960; his daughters, Kathy Allen of Butler and Susan Bloskowitz and her companion, William Hicks, of Chicora; his sons, Edward R. “Chip” Allen of Butler and Steve “Beaver” Allen and his companion, Cherie Lambing, of Butler, and seven grandchildren, Shane Allen, Justin Allen, Bret Bloskowitz, Thomas Homback, Heather Allen, Jesse Allen, and Amanda Allen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Allen, in 2004.

The family has a special thanks to the VNA Inpatient Hospice for all their kindness and for keeping Ed comfortable during his last days.

Allen — The friends of Edward Clark Allen, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets, Chicora.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home officiated by the Rev. Joseph Boomhower.
