Larry Edward 'Ed' Lowers
Larry Edward “Ed” Lowers, 66, of Slippery Rock passed away at 6:55 a.m. Thursday.
He was born on July 26, 1948, in Grove City to the late Harry Lowers Jr. and Martha Jane McFadden Lowers.
He married Sharon Elaine Mong on June 28, 1969, and enjoyed 45 years of a devoted and happy marriage.
He retired from J.S. McCormick in Branchton. He was a member of the Slippery Rock United Methodist Church.
Ed's sense of humor and love of life was appreciated by family and friends. His passion was traveling the world with his family and restoring antique cars.
A Western enthusiast, Ed loved the movies and read every Louis L'Amour novel written and some more than once. He regularly participated in a Friday Breakfast Club with his siblings, and greatly enjoyed hanging out with his friends at Joe Cirillo's garage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Melinda Sue Kaiser and her husband, Craig, of Allison Park and Dr. Michele Ann Lowers of Mount Lebanon; his four sisters, Joann Bicehouse and her husband, William, of Harmony, Madalene J. Urey of Grove City, Martha J. Hanna and her husband, James, of Franklin, and Sharon C. Roche of San Angelo, Texas, and his brother, Gary R. Lowers and his wife, Kathy, of Transfer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Lowers III.
Lowers — The family of Larry Edward “Ed” Lowers, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Clintonville Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Ed's memory be made to the Northern Butler County Feed My Sheep Food Cupboard, 320 N. Main St., Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
