LeRoy L. Lawrence
LeRoy L. Lawrence, 94, of Owensboro, Ky., passed away Sunday at Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.
He was born April 18, 1920, in Butler, to the late Martin and Katherine Schuler Lawrence.
LeRoy was retired from Green River Steel after 31 years of service.
He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was honorably discharged from the Marines as a corporal in Mechanicsburg Jan. 29, 1946.
He was an avid golfer, who enjoyed playing cards, watching Westerns and traveling out West. He also enjoyed visiting his family in Pennsylvania, the outdoors and working in his yard. He was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, and was a great role model. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude L. Bowser Lawrence, on March 12, 1999; his son, David L. Lawrence, on March 16, 1992; his sister, Loretta Lois Quigley, and her brother, Loyle Stevick.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel Lawrence and his wife, Brenda, and Darryl L. Lawrence, all of Owensboro, Ky.; two grandchildren, Christina (Scott) Burns and Jon David (Carrie Billings) Lawrence, all of Owensboro; and four great-grandchildren, Taylar (Josh) Granger, Tanner Tibbs, Talon Tibbs and Elizabeth Lawrence.
Lawrence— Visitation for LeRoy L. Lawrence, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, Ky.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the time of services at noon Monday at the funeral home.
