Benjamin R. Leone
Benjamin R. Leone, 88, of Harrisville passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Living Center, Grove City.
A son of the late Ralph and Edith Vitale Leone, he was born on March 25, 1926, in Boyers.
He was a graduate of Grove City High School.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Leone served in the U.S. Navy from August of 1943 until June of 1946.
At the age of 17, Ben went to work at Cooper Bessemer. He left to serve in the U.S. Navy, then returned for a total of 52 years of service for the company. He was the employee with the most longevity at the time of the plant closing. He was working in the shipping/receiving department and during more than half a century of service he never missed a day due to illness.
He enjoyed woodworking, furniture building and gardening.
He was a member of the Epiphany Roman Catholic Church in Boyers. He was a member of the Slippery Rock VFW.
On July 26, 1947, he married Virginia M. Hooks. She died on Sept. 15, 2014.
Surviving are his daughter, Amy Morgan and her husband, Alan, of Slippery Rock; his son, Douglas Leone of Harrisville; his two grandchildren, Jennifer Dietrich of Monument, Colo., and Jason Morgan and his wife, Laura, of Green Mountain Falls, Colo., and his three great-grandchildren, Owen, Liam and Nolen. Also surviving are his two brothers, James Leone and his wife, Clara, of Slippery Rock and Edward Leone and his wife, Paula, of Boyers; and his two sisters, Dora Bonnetti and her husband, Furrie, of Grove City and Kathryn Trevelline of Elwood City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Dorcy and infant Emma Leone.
Leone — Funeral arrangements for Benjamin R. Leone, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, are entrusted to the Jamison Funeral Home, Harrisville. There will be no public visitation.A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the Epiphany Roman Catholic Church in Boyers with the Rev.
