John A. Kusick

Kusick

John A. Kusick, 89, of Bradys Bend passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

Born on Jan. 6, 1926, in Criswell, Butler County, he was the son of the late George J. and Antonia P. Geishak Kusick.

On March 19, 1957, John married the former Marilyn Y. “Sis” Snow. She preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 2007.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a private first class with the 200th Chemical Base Depot Company. He was a recipient of the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

John retired after 39 years at Koppers in Petrolia, now Indespec.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, where he helped with the Lenten fish dinners and helped maintain St. Mary's Cemetery.

John was an avid hunter, and he enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.

He is survived by his three daughters, Amy (Mike) Miller of East Brady, Beverly (Bill) Scherer of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Jill (Matt) Stimac of Bradys Bend, and his three sons, John (AJ) Kusick of East Brady, Steve Kusick of Monaca and Paul Kusick of Bradys Bend.

John is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, Ashley and Kory (Laurene), Nicholas and Emma Kusick, Matt and Josh Stimac, Will and Steven Scherer, and Brad and Eric Miller, and his two great-grandsons, Conan and Deacon Kusick.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery; his sister, Ann Scottson, and his brother, Joe Kusick.

Kusick, who passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at theBuechele Funeral Home, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.A parish prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m. March 15 in the funeral home. A veterans service will be at 6 p.m. March 15 in the funeral home.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. John Butler celebrating.
