Gerald E. 'Jerry' Baptiste

Gerald E. “Jerry” Baptiste, 60, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler with his wife and son at his side.

Born on Aug. 11, 1954, in Herman, he was the son of the late Gerald R. and Hazel Duncan Baptiste.

Jerry was a faithful member of the St. Peter's Reformed Church in Zelienople.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, and he was an armed guard driver for NexTier Transport.

Jerry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping and celebrating his Native American heritage, attending many powwows where he made many friends. Above all, he was a true and loving family man who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 30 years, Carol Yohn Baptiste, who he married on June 30, 1984; his son, Michael G. Baptiste of Butler; his brother, Roger Baptiste of Butler; his three sisters, Elsie (Dean) Sarvey of Butler, Irene (Anthony) Amendolea of Butler and Tammy (Andy) Jacobson of Butler; his father-in-law, Robert E. “Bob” Yohn of Zelienople; his sister-in-law, Nancy L. (Ted) Meals of Monaca; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Baptiste— Jerry's family will welcome friends of Gerald E. “Jerry” Baptiste, who passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial service with military honors at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Peter's Reformed Church, 320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. James R. Bertoti officiating.At the conclusion of Jerry's services on Saturday, all guests are invited to join his family for a luncheon in his honor at the St. Peter's Reformed Church Fellowship Hall.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, Zelienople.If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his honor in support of the St. Peter's Reformed Church or a veterans organization of the donor's choice.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Jerry's family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
